465. Deputy James Bannon asked the Minister for Justice and Equality in view of the recent drugs seizure by members of An Garda Síochána in the village of Newtownforbes, when she will provide security cameras in the village to dispel the fears of the residents. [26813/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraGarda CCTV systems are planned and implemented on the basis of the Garda Commissioner's identified operational needs and priorities. Accordingly, decisions in relation to the introduction or extension of such systems are a matter for the Garda authorities. I am advised that whilst there are currently no plans to install a Garda CCTV system in the area referred to, the question of further extending Garda CCTV schemes is kept under ongoing review in the context of overall policing requirements.
