Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection the progress to date in determination of an application for carer's allowance in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; when a decision is expected in this case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI confirm that the department received an application for carer’s allowance from the person in question on the 6th March 2014. The person concerned was refused carers allowance on the grounds that the care recipient is not so disabled as to require full time care and attention as prescribed in regulations. She was notified of this decision on the 2nd of July 2014, the reason for it and of her right of review or appeal.
