410. Deputy Finian McGrath asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection the position regarding illness benefit and carer's allowance in respect of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [29643/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraI am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that an Appeals Officer, having fully considered all of the available evidence, has decided to allow the Illness Benefit appeal of the person concerned by way of a summary decision. The person concerned has been notified of the Appeals Officer’s decision in writing on 4 July 2014. I understand from Carers Allowance Section that the person concerned has been in receipt of Carers Allowance since 11 April 2013. The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
