422. Deputy Jim Daly asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if she is satisfied with a social welfare appeal being furnished to an appeals officer in early February of this year in respect of a person (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [29778/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Social Welfare Appeals Office has advised me that an appeal by the person concerned, was registered in that office on 24 January 2014. The case was referred to an Appeals Officer on 6 February 2014 who requested clarification on certain issues from the Department of Social Protection on 25 March 2014. Following receipt of the clarification, the Appeals Officer has decided to convene an oral hearing in this case. Every effort will be made to hear the case as quickly as possible and the appellant will be informed when arrangements for the oral hearing have been made. The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
