464. Deputy Dominic Hannigan asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources when he expects the European Commission to make its decision in relation to the roll-out of fibre broadband along the ESB network; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29708/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe matter raised by the Deputy relates to the obligation of ESB to notify the European Commission of the proposed joint venture in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 139/2004 of 20 January 2004 on the control of concentrations between undertakings (the Merger Regulation) and EU Commission implementing regulations. This is a corporate issue between the ESB and the European Commission and I therefore have no function in this matter.
