Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection the number of the 2,756 persons accommodated by the new communities unit who had a letter of housing need from a local authority; and the number of the 2,756 that were on a waiting list for social housing with a local authority. Amharc ar fhreagraIt is not a requirement for persons for whom temporary emergency accommodation is arranged by the New Communities Unit to have a letter of housing need from their Local Authority; therefore this Department does not hold such information. Furthermore, this Department is not party to the details of those in such circumstances who may be registered or on a waiting list for social housing as such information is held by Local Authorities.
