Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the number of children adopted into Ireland from the United States of America since November 2010; and if he will provide a breakdown of the figures to show the number of children who were adopted from each of the federal states. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Adoption Authority advises that 36 adoptions from the USA have been recorded in the Register of Intercountry Adoptions since the enactment of the Adoption Act 2010.
As the USA is considered to be one entity under the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-Operation in respect of Intercountry Adoption, the Authority does not maintain statistics in respect of individual US states.
