51. Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Finance the discussions he has held with the international banking sector regarding the possibility of expanding operations to Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4023/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraI have been informed by Minister of State Harris that he met with Cathaoirleach and CEO of Leitrim County Council in November regarding the MBNA closure, there were also EI and IDA representatives present. Minister of State Harris, in his role regarding international banking, is currently developing an International Financial Services Strategy. A key feature of this revised Strategy will be the focus on building employment in regions outside of Dublin and the Minister of State will continue to work closely with the state agencies, EI and the IDA, to support their initiatives.
