Ceisteanna (50)

John Halligan

Ceist:

50. Deputy John Halligan asked the Minister for Health further to previous parliamentary questions tabled in relation to the new computed tomography scanner, which was donated to University Hospital Waterford by Waterford City and County Infirmary Trust; if he will provide a comprehensive explanation as to the way it is possible that the scanner has been lying idle for the past nine months, while the waiting list for patients receiving scans is steadily increasing; if he will acknowledge that this is a waste of vital scanner diagnostic services, and that lives are being put at risk; if he will commit to ensuring that this scanner will become operational within the lifetime of this current Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
