609. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Health if he will provide an update on proposals for medically supervised injecting centres in Dublin; and the proposed time frame for such centres. [11455/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department has no plans to introduce medically supervised injecting centres at present. The Government’s focus is on ensuring that there is an increased emphasis on providing the opportunities for people to move on from illicit drug use, through drug treatment and rehabilitation, to a drug-free life where that is achievable.
I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
