Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Health if he will provide, in tabular form, the number of health insurance polices offered in the market as at December 2010, December 2011, December 2012, December 2013, December 2014 and to date in 2015; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Health Insurance Authority, the independent statutory regulator of the private health insurance market in Ireland, provides my Department with data on the number of health insurance plans available in the market, outlined in the following table. This data is compiled in respect of the commercial health insurers and excludes Restricted Membership Undertakings (which provide insurance to people who are members of a particular group, normally a vocational group or employees of a particular organisation).
