262. Deputy Terence Flanagan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if she will address a matter (details supplied) regarding a carer's allowance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22350/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraI confirm that the department received an application for carer’s allowance from the person in question on the 9th December 2014. The person concerned was refused carers allowance on the grounds that the care recipient is not so disabled as to require full time care and attention as prescribed in regulations. He was notified on the 14th of April 2015 of this decision, the reason for it and of his right of review and appeal. The person concerned requested a review of this decision and submitted further medical evidence in support of the application. The review is currently being processed and once completed, the person concerned will be notified directly of the outcome.
