Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Education and Skills the current status of the tendering process for the new building approved in respect of a school (details supplied) in County Galway; when it is likely a contractor will be appointed to this project; the expected date for the commencement of the building; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI wish to advise the Deputy that new school project to which he refers is at an advanced stage of architectural planning, Stage 2b - Detailed Design. The pre-qualification of suitable contractors is now complete and the revised Stage 2b cost plan is currently being examined by my Department.
It is anticipated that the Design Team will shortly be in a position to issue tender documents to the selected contractors and subject to no issues arising construction of the new school should commence before the end of 2015.
