575. Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Health his Department's policy on illnesses caused by water damage and mould contamination; in particular, its opinion of the relationship between such environmental hazards and chronic fatigue syndrome; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has no policy on this matter and has no plans to develop one. Furthermore, it is not the role of my Department to have opinions on the causation of disease but rather to rely on the relevant science and evidence to guide us.
