Deputy Sean Fleming asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if she is satisfied that parliamentary questions are adequately replied to within her Department; the steps she has taken, since March 2011, to ensure parliamentary questions are fully responded to within her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Arrangements are in place in my Department for the preparation of draft responses to Parliamentary Questions for submission to me in a timely manner. Those arrangements, which take full account of the requirements of Dáil Éireann for replying to Parliamentary Questions, include final scrutiny of draft replies by senior officials at Management Board level prior to their submission to me for final approval. I am satisfied that these arrangements are appropriate in terms of meeting the relevant requirements for replying to Parliamentary Questions.
