I am advised by the Irish Prison Service that it conducts an analysis of the snapshot of the prison population on the last day of each month. Accordingly, an analysis of the snapshot of the prison population conducted on the 30th April, 2015 shows there was a total of 614 persons serving a sentence of more than ten years, of this 346 were serving a life sentence and 268 were serving a sentence of more than ten years.
Of the 614, 2 were aged 18 to 20 years and 30 were aged 21 to 25 years.
