Deputy Tony McLoughlin asked the Minister for Education and Skills the amount of capital funding her Department has provided for major school building and modernisation projects in counties Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan and Donegal since 2012; the number of projects. in total. that have taken place in this period; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department has provided almost €26.5 million in the delivery of major building projects (new schools and large scale extensions) to counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo over the period 2012 to end June 2015.
Over the period in question a total of nine major school building projects (new schools and large scale extensions) have been completed including two PPP projects. In addition a further seven major school building projects have been given approval to proceed to tender and construction and three of these projects are currently under construction with the remainder advancing towards the construction phase.
