Deputy Charlie McConalogue asked the Minister for Education and Skills if a private third level institution may charge a student who wishes to defer a further year of a course due to maternity leave a deferral fee of €1,000 as a condition of approving deferral; which State body is responsible for regulating fees charged to students by private third level education providers; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
