378. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide a percentage and absolute breakdown of total stamp duty received on shares, between stock market traded shares and private company sale of shares. [31871/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraI am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a breakdown of the stamp duty paid on shares between stock market traded shares and private company sale of shares as requested by the Deputy is not available. No distinction is made between companies which are incorporated in Ireland and those quoted on the Irish Stock Exchange for the purposes of stamp duty collection. As such, a breakdown of stamp duty paid is not available.
The Deputy may be interested to know that data regarding the overall amounts of stamp duty received on shares by year is available on Revenue's statistical webpage at http://www.revenue.ie/en/about/statistics/index.html.
