795. Deputy Ciara Conway asked the Minister for Health the number of Irish persons travelling abroad to avail of the cross-border directive for each of the years since its inception, 2011 to 2015; if he will provide in tabular form the cost paid by the Health Service Executive to fund this treatment for each of the years since the directive took effect here; if he will provide a breakdown or overview by treatment type for which treatments are sought though this scheme; if he will provide a breakdown showing in detail which jurisdictions persons are travelling to for treatment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Health Service Executive operates the EU Directive on Patients’ Rights in Cross Border Healthcare in Ireland. The Health Service Executive has been asked to examine the matter of the data requested and to reply to the Deputy as soon as possible. If the Deputy has not received a reply from the HSE within 15 working days, please contact my Private Office who will follow up the matter with them.
