1031. Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the status of the tenant purchase scheme; and when he expects the local authorities to be in a position to sell council homes to tenants. [37199/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy colleague, the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government has signed the statutory instruments required to enable the new scheme for the tenant purchase of existing local authority houses along incremental purchase lines to come into operation on 1 January 2016. The new year commencement will allow time for housing authorities to familiarise themselves with the new scheme and for interested tenants to make necessary preparations to apply to purchase. The statutory instruments concerned will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas shortly.
