It is unclear what new regulations the Deputy is referring to. The only new regulations relating to tachograph that my Department is in the process of drafting, in consultation with the Road Safety Authority, are in relation to the implementing act for the smart tachograph and its annexes according to Article 11 of Regulation (EU) No 165/2014.  These regulations relate to the technology of smart tachograph machines which are to replace the existing generation of machines in the coming years.  The new regulations will not affect the scope of the provisions of the current regulations in terms of vehicle weight or classification.
