97. Deputy John Paul Phelan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of gardaí in the Carlow and Kilkenny division on 1 January in each of the years 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2603/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will appreciate the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution of personnel among the Garda Regions, Divisions, and Districts. Garda management keep this distribution under continual review in the context of crime trends and policing priorities so as to ensure that the best possible use is made of resources. The information for the 31 December 2011 and for the 30 November 2015, the latest dates for which figures are readily available was as set out in the following table. I have requested the details of the Garda strength in the Carlow/Kilkenny Division for 31 December 1999, 2003 and 2007 from the Garda Commissioner and will forward this information to the Deputy directly on receipt of same.
