585. Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will review the opening of Killucan train station to serve the commuters in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11356/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraWith the level of resources currently available to the Government, the key priority for investment in the rail network under the Capital Plan "Building on Recovery: Infrastructure and Capital Investment (2016-2021) is to ensure the safety and efficiency of the existing network and there is very little scope, particularly in the short to medium term, to make Exchequer funds available for the re-opening of rail stations across the network.
If future funding becomes available, Government would decide allocations in accordance with competing needs and requirements, and having regard to the importance of achieving value for money.
