78. Deputy Bobby Aylward asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality her policy on the installation of defibrillators in all Garda stations; if there are proposals due to be implemented by her Department that will ensure that this life-saving device is available in all Garda stations; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is primarily responsible for the provision of equipment for An Garda Síochána and I, as Minister, have no direct role in the matter.

I have asked the Garda authorities for the information requested by the Deputy and will revert to him in writing as soon as I have this information to hand.
