297. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his plans to renegotiate or vary the agreement with the Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland following the Setanta ruling; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14088/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraA review of the framework for motor insurance compensation in Ireland, after the failure of Setanta insurance, is currently being carried out by a joint working group comprised of officials of the Departments of Finance and of my Department. A final report of the review is due to be submitted to the Minister for Finance and to myself in the coming weeks. It should also be noted that further court proceedings are to take place on the matter. In these circumstances it would be premature for me to comment on any proposals regarding this matter.
