I would like to assure the Deputy that I, together with my Ministers of State, are fully committed to implementing the recommendations of Tobacco Free Ireland. There are no proposals to amend the provisions of the Public Health (Tobacco) Acts in respect of the existing smoke free provisions. In fact Tobacco Free Ireland seeks to enhance and further extend smoke free areas into the future. An example of this is the legislation commenced on the 1st January of this year which makes it illegal for someone to smoke a tobacco product in a car where a child is present.
