366. Deputy John Lahart asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the statistics in respect of abandoned cars in the four Dublin local authorities for 2015 and in 2016 to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22594/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department’s primary responsibility is to ensure the correct environmental treatment of all end-of-life vehicles, abandoned or otherwise, as required under the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive. Enforcement measures relating to the European Union (End-of-Life Vehicles) Regulations 2014 are the responsibility of both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the local authorities.
My Department does not retain statistics relating to the number of abandoned vehicles.
