158. Deputy Martin Heydon asked the Minister for Finance his plans to introduce financial incentives or tax reliefs for those who are considering buying a new home for the first time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24228/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Deputy will be aware that a new "Help to Buy" scheme was announced in the Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness that was published yesterday. The scheme is being developed with the aim of helping to ensure the availability of adequate, affordable mortgage finance for first time buyers. The introduction of a "Help to Buy" scheme follows the recognition in the Programme for a Partnership Government of the difficulties faced by first time buyers in accessing mortgage finance.
The details of the scheme will be announced in the context of Budget 2017.
