680. Deputy Denise Mitchell asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of persons who have applied for domiciliary care allowance over the past four years; the number of people refused this allowance over this period; the number of decisions taken to the courts by these persons, if any; and to provide a breakdown on the different medical conditions of those applying and the medical conditions of those refused the allowance. Since 2012, there have been a total of 6 Judicial reviews of DCA decisions.

Statistics on the disabilities of the child being applied for are not routinely collated and as a result are not available. Eligibility for the scheme is based on the level of additional care required resulting from the disability and not the type of disability itself.
