Bord na gCon is the statutory body responsible for the regulation and development of greyhound racing under the Greyhound Industry Act 1958. Bord na gCon is a body corporate and a separate legal entity to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The issues to which the Deputy refers are an operational matter for Bord na gCon.
Bord na gCon has informed me that its annual report and accounts have yet to be audited by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General. When this process has been completed the accounts will be published in due course and information regarding the tote growth will be available.
I also understand that the publication of mid-year performance at race tracks is currently under consideration by the Board.
