Deputy Kevin O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he has received the Teagasc report in respect of the tillage sector for 2016; if so, the number of hectares sown in 2015 and 2016, by county, in tabular form; and the total combined yield of grain tonnage for 2015 and 2016. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Teagasc Final Harvest report for 2016 which my Department has just received estimates that the overall production of cereals for 2016 was a little over 2.2 million tonnes combined, down from a record 2.6 million tonnes in 2015. The report also estimates that the total cereal area sown fell by 4.9% in 2016, compared to 2015.
The table sets out on a county basis, the number of tillage hectares sown in 2015 and 2016, based on crop area declared under the Basic Payment Scheme. The Teagasc Report does not include information at this level.
