455. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the status of the implementation of a new Coast Guard Bill; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [38795/16]
Amharc ar fhreagraI refer the Deputy to my response to PQ Ref: 34648/16 on 15 November 2016, in which I outlined the legislative provisions that underpin the activities of the Coast Guard (IRCG). I am satisfied that the current operations of the IRCG; search and rescue, pollution response, and voluntary activity generally, are well supported by the State and there is no requirement to put the Coast Guard on any additional statutory footing.
