Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if his Department has sought or intends to seek any flexibility from the European Commission in terms of the application of the fiscal rules to capital expenditure; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will be aware, responsibility for Ireland's commitments under the EU Stability and Growth Pact, including compliance with the fiscal rules and any engagement with other Member States and the European Commission on issues relating to the design and application of the rules, such as for example the matter referred to in the Deputy's question, is a matter for my colleague the Minister for Finance and his Department.
