Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of foreign nationals assigned personal public service numbers, PPSNs, from 2011 to 2016, inclusive, in tabular form; the numbers of same that had employment activity here for the same period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. While the Department does not compile detailed statistics on period employment activity, it should be noted that PPS Numbers are not allocated solely for employment purposes, and that many of them are issued for a range of other public services such as education, probate, tax compliance, etc.
