280. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to outline the extent to which he and his Department can promote and support amateur golf in all areas throughout the country; the extent to which he expects to be in a position to meet the demand in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraSport Ireland, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the promotion, development and co-ordination of sport. This includes responsibility for the allocation of funding for National Governing Bodies of Sport.
As this question is a matter for Sport Ireland, I have referred it to Sport Ireland for direct reply.
I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.
