280. Deputy Lisa Chambers asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the level of air traffic control in operation at Baldonnel Aerodrome; if cover is on a 24/7 basis; and if not, the times not covered. [6547/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs I have previously confirmed, the Air Corps is currently experiencing shortages of trained air traffic control (ATC) personnel. This was exacerbated most recently by the unanticipated retirement of ATC personnel. These unanticipated retirements have impacted the level of ATC service than can be delivered, including the scheduling of flights into and out of Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel. As the Deputy will appreciate, for security reasons, it would not be appropriate to disclose precise details of the implications for the management of Air Operations.
