594. Deputy Seán Crowe asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if Kildare County Council can publish the names of those charged and convicted of committing littering offences. [6849/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Litter Pollution Act, 1997, provides for penalties for litter offences. These range from an on-the-spot fine of €150 to a maximum fine of €3,000 on summary conviction, and a maximum fine of €130,000 on conviction on indictment. The fines for continuing offences are €600 per day for summary offences and €10,000 per day for indictable offences.
There are no provisions within the Act that provide for publishing the names of those charged and convicted of committing littering offences.
