Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the cost of upgrading information technology systems and databases to incorporate the use of Eircode postcodes; if the use of Eircode postcodes is mandatory in his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThere has been no cost incurred by my Department in relation to the upgrading of information technology systems and/or databases to incorporate the use of Eircode. My Department’s financial systems already have the functionality to capture and maintain postcode data. The use of Eircode is not mandatory in my Department. However, all staff have been advised to use Eircode in communications.
