232. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government the total number of emergency housing units or accommodation available to Kildare County Council on an ongoing basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9492/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department’s role in relation to homelessness involves the provision of a national framework of policy, legislation and funding to underpin the role of housing authorities in addressing homelessness at local level. Statutory responsibility in relation to the provision of homeless services, including accommodation, rests with individual housing authorities. Therefore the issue raised in the Question is a matter for the relevant housing authority, in this case Kildare County Council.
