Broughan asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment his plans to review the programme structures and performance of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland in view of the major and fast changing digital media landscape; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI have no plans to review the programme structures or performance of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. The Authority, which is independent in the performance of its functions, operates under the framework of the Broadcasting Act 2009.
The Authority recently launched its Strategy Statement for 2017-2019 and I am satisfied that the strategy, which fully recognises the challenges that face the sector, provides a solid foundation that will allow the Authority to continue to be effective and meet its statutory objectives.
