310. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the degree to which the venison food sector continues to be promoted, with particular reference to potential export markets; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12731/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraBord Bia is available to assist producers and food companies in identifying market opportunities. In the case of venison, there are producers engaged in this line of farming and one factory has been approved by my Department for the slaughter of deer. Bord Bia have received a few enquiries from venison producers about export market opportunities in the UK and have provided assistance with market insight and importer and distributor contacts.
