Deputy Seán Haughey asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will amend regulation 31 of the Taxi Regulation (Small Public Service Vehicles) Regulations 2015 for the age of SPSVs in order that the driver of a standard taxi who is nearing retirement can continue to use a vehicle which is over ten years old for a further period; the reason for this regulation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including issues pertaining to vehicle standards, is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013.
