407. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if the attention of the Coast Guard and Civil Defence was drawn to an arrangement between the RAF and the State to facilitate the shooting down of hijacked planes over Ireland. [18174/17]

I cannot comment on any reports concerning national security matters or responses that might be taken in the event of an attack on Ireland or a serious and immediate security threat to Ireland and the Irish people. However, I can confirm that no agreement has been entered into by the State to grant permission to the RAF to shoot down hijacked planes over Ireland.
