416. Deputy Kevin O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government to set out the number of housing units that have been purchased in County Cork for a specific reason (details supplied). [20302/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraUnder my Department's Social Housing Investment Programme, funding is provided to local authorities for the acquisition of suitable new and second-hand housing and apartments for social housing use. The selection of such units for acquisition is a matter for local authorities, as the housing authorities for their areas, with the clear expectation that such acquisitions meet priority housing need, are suitable, good quality, value for money, sustain balanced tenure mix and are part of a broader approach to the development of new social housing for the area. These acquired properties are allocated to tenants based on their needs, as determined through the individual local authority's scheme of letting priorities. My Department does not have access to information on individual tenants accommodated in such properties.
