423. Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for Health the health supports currently in place for persons suffering from sickle cell disease; and his plans to provide the influenza injection to all persons with sickle cell disease. [23009/17]

It is recommended that persons with sickle cell disease should receive inactivated trivalent influenza vaccine annually from 6 months of age (2 doses 1 month apart in the first year of receipt). Those aged 18 years or older may attend either their GP or pharmacist for vaccination and those under 18 years should attend their GP.

As health supports for persons with sickle cell disease is a service matter, it has been referred to the Health Service Executive for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
