556. Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his plans to develop and guarantee the long-term future of Arranmore lighthouse in County Donegal as a tourist attraction; the assistance and supports his Department has provided in recent years to realise same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no such plans, as Arranmore lighthouse is owned by the Commissioners of Irish Lights (CIL), which has overall responsibilities for aids to navigation around Ireland.

The potential uses of the lighthouse in addition to its core function as an aid to navigation is a matter for CIL, and I have no role in that regard.
