172. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection if he will review an application for carer's allowance in the case of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23865/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Social Welfare Appeals Office has advised me that there is no record of any appeal by the person concerned having been received in that office. In light of your request, an appeal will be registered and in accordance with statutory requirements the Appeals Office will contact the person concerned to ask her to set out her complete grounds of appeal i.e. the reason why she disagrees with the conclusions of the Deciding Officer. On receipt of her response the relevant Department papers will be requested from the Carer’s Allowance Section. When these are received the appeal will be assigned to an Appeals Officer for consideration.
The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
