32. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation the annual cost to the State of new jobs in foreign direct investment; if this figure includes special tax reliefs awarded to incoming foreign direct investment executives; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraCost Per Job Sustained (CPJS) is the mechanism used by IDA Ireland to assess the cost of each job sustained and supported by the Agency. Tax reliefs are not included in the calculation.
The CPJS measures the level of first time jobs created during a seven year period against IDA Ireland grants paid over that same period of time. Only jobs created during and sustained to the end of each seven year period are reflected in the calculations.
The annual cost per job sustained from 2008 to 2015 is set out in the following table. Figures for 2010-2016 will be available following the publication of the Agency's annual report in July.
