Deputy Tony McLoughlin asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if consideration will be given to introduce a fairer system for taxi drivers that wish to retire and sell their taxi businesses, in view of the fact that this is a unique problem for taxi drivers here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The regulation of the small public service vehicle industry, including issues pertaining to vehicle standards and licensing requirements, is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013.
